USE CASE GUIDE · UPDATED OCTOBER 2026

TradingView to MT5 bridge for prop firms — pass your challenge without blowing it.

Industry data suggests the vast majority of prop firm challenge failures are caused by drawdown breaches, not bad strategies. The pattern is almost always the same: a strategy that backtests well, a live news event that doesn’t, an overnight gap that compounds, and a missing kill switch. Here’s how to stop that happening.

From $14.99/mo: Trader plan with Prop Firm Shield + News Filter.

14-day free trial on Trader. No credit card. Cancel anytime. Setup in 5 minutes. Works with every MT5 prop firm: FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers, E8 Markets, FundingPips and more.

PROBLEM · 01

1. Overnight drawdown breach.

FTMO resets the daily drawdown limit at midnight CEST. If you have floating losses from yesterday and the market gaps against you overnight, your daily loss counter resets to a lower ceiling than you expected.

You wake up to a closed account, a “Daily Loss Limit Reached” email, and a challenge fee already spent. Most traders never see this coming because the breach happens while they sleep.

PROBLEM · 02

2. News event blowup.

NFP, FOMC, CPI: spreads widen 3–5× in seconds. Stop losses slip. Even traders who avoid news manually sometimes forget, or their timezone math is wrong. One Forex Factory user documented a 60-pip slippage during the May 2025 CPI release.

If your strategy fires a trade in that window, you don’t get a clean fill: you get a 30-second window of chaos where every assumption your backtest made stops being true.

PROBLEM · 03

3. No automatic kill switch.

Most bridges execute every signal blindly. If your TradingView strategy fires 5 buy signals during a crash, a standard bridge will open all 5 positions. Your drawdown compounds and by the time you log in to intervene, you’re already over the limit.

PineConnector, TradingConnector and most other bridges have no concept of “stop trading because the account is at risk”. They are pure routers. The intelligence has to live somewhere: either in your Pine Script (fragile, easy to bug) or in the bridge itself.

SignalForge is different. It was built specifically for traders who cannot afford to blow their accounts: prop firm traders running $10K–$200K challenges where a 5% daily breach means losing the evaluation fee, the funded status and weeks of progress.

Real-time drawdown protection.

Prop Firm Shield monitors your MT5 account equity in real time and automatically halts all trading before you breach your firm’s daily loss limit. It works at the EA level: the EA stops accepting signals and closes open positions (pending orders are not cancelled), then re-arms automatically at 00:00 broker server time. No manual intervention needed.

🔴 DAILY LOSS PROTECTION

Set your buffer below the firm’s limit

Set your daily drawdown buffer (e.g. 4.5% when the firm limit is 5%). The EA closes all positions and stops accepting signals if your daily equity loss reaches that level.

🟠 PROFIT TARGET · MAX DRAWDOWN

Daily target lock. Max drawdown stays yours.

Optionally set a daily profit target: the EA stops and blocks new entries once it is reached. The Shield does not enforce a maximum (total) drawdown: keep your own margin and track it in your prop firm dashboard.

🟢 EQUITY-BASED · NOT BALANCE

Monitors floating equity

Unlike basic risk tools that only check closed P&L, the Shield monitors floating equity, exactly what your prop firm measures. The check runs continuously, not on every closed trade.

⚡ INSTANT HALT

Close · reject · re-arm

When the threshold is hit: close all open positions and reject all incoming signals (pending orders are not cancelled). The Shield re-arms automatically at 00:00 broker server time. No manual intervention needed. The challenge stays alive.

This is not a “risk management suggestion.” This is a hard automated kill switch that protects your challenge while you sleep, while you eat, while you’re away from the screen.

Never get stopped out by NFP again.

The News Filter pauses signal execution during high-impact economic events. It reads the Forex Factory calendar and automatically blocks new trades within a configurable window around red-folder events.

How to set up in 5 minutes.

Three steps from sign-up to first protected trade.

01

Subscribe and get your webhook token

Sign up for the Trader plan ($14.99/mo, includes Prop Firm Shield + News Filter). You receive a personal webhook URL and token instantly.

~1 min
02

Install the EA on your prop firm MT5

Download the SignalForge EA and drag it onto any chart in your prop firm’s MetaTrader 5. Paste your token. Configure your daily loss buffer (e.g. 4.5%). Done.

~2 min
03

Connect your TradingView strategy

In TradingView, add a webhook alert with your SignalForge URL. Use any format: JSON, key=value pairs, or even PineConnector syntax, and the parser accepts all three. Your strategy fires, SignalForge checks the news filter, checks your drawdown, executes on MT5 if everything is clear. Rejects automatically if not.

Frequently asked questions.

Prop firm specifics, EA compliance, latency. Email soporte@signalforge-ai.com.

Yes. FTMO allows Expert Advisors on MT4 and MT5 with no pre-approval required. The only restrictions are: no HFT/tick scalping, no latency arbitrage, and strategies must be original. Webhook-based automation (TradingView → MT5) is explicitly allowed.
No. A webhook-driven trade takes hundreds of milliseconds from alert to execution, far slower than the microsecond latency that defines HFT. Prop firms flag HFT when trades execute in milliseconds; webhook-based automation is safe.
It monitors your account equity in real time and automatically halts all trading when your daily loss reaches the limit you set. You set a buffer (e.g. 4.5% when the limit is 5%). The EA closes the open positions (pending orders are not cancelled) and rejects new signals until the automatic daily reset at 00:00 broker server time.
It depends on the firm and account type. FTMO Challenge accounts have no news restrictions, but Funded accounts prohibit new positions within 2 minutes of high-impact news. The News Filter handles this automatically: configure the window per firm and the bridge enforces it.
Most major prop firms offer MT5: FTMO, FundedNext, The5ers, E8 Markets, FundingPips and many others. SignalForge AI works with any broker or firm that provides MT5 access.
Yes. TradingView webhooks require a paid TradingView plan (Essential or higher). Free TradingView plans do not support webhook alerts.
Measured on our servers (19–23 Sep 2026), the median from webhook received to order confirmed in MT5 is about 0.5 s, of which ~180 ms is the trip to the EA. TradingView’s own alert delivery comes on top. Well within prop firm acceptable ranges and nowhere near HFT speeds.
Yes. The Trader plan supports 3 broker accounts. Pro ($29.99/mo) supports 5 accounts and Elite ($49.99/mo) 10, each with its own SFCloud. One TradingView alert can execute simultaneously on multiple MT5 accounts, useful for scaling across funded firms.
Yes. 14-day free trial on the Starter plan with no credit card required. For prop firm traders, we recommend starting directly with the Trader plan ($14.99/mo) to get Prop Firm Shield + News Filter from day one.
No, as long as your TradingView strategy produces consistent trade sizes and frequencies. Prop firms flag inconsistency when lot sizes vary wildly or patterns change abruptly. A consistent EA is exactly what prop firms want to see.
