INFRASTRUCTURE · UPDATED JULY 2026

Best VPS for MT5 — and when you don't need one.

Every “best forex VPS” list is written by someone earning a commission on the VPS. We sell the alternative, so let's put both cards on the table: here is what a VPS really costs in 2026 (money and admin time), the two cases where a real VPS is genuinely the right call, and the hosted route that skips the whole question from $9.99 all-in.

Why MT5 needs an always-on home at all.

ONE HALF OF THE PIPELINE IS OURS. THE OTHER HALF IS YOURS.

Half one · the webhook
Runs in the cloud

Your bridge receives TradingView alerts server-side. Nothing on your machine has to be awake for this half to work.

Always on · nothing to maintain
Half two · the execution
Your MT5 terminal

It only places orders while it is running and logged in. Windows sleep, a reboot, or the lid of your laptop closing all kill execution silently.

Needs a home that never sleeps

It is fix #9 in our troubleshooting guide for a reason. So the terminal needs a home that never sleeps: your PC, a VPS, or a hosted MT5.

So the hosted route costs $5/mo on top of the bridge — still a fraction of a mid-range VPS, and the only option here with nothing to administer. Already on a plan and want SFCloud on top? Ask on Telegram and we set it up. Current numbers always on the pricing page.

MYTHBUSTING

The latency myth, honestly.

VPS marketing leans hard on “1 ms to your broker”. That matters for high-frequency and tick-scalping strategies — which, if you trade prop firms, are forbidden practices anyway. For alert-driven trading, the pipeline is TradingView → bridge → EA → broker: our published bridge latency is 187 ms median, and your broker's own execution adds the rest.

// where the milliseconds actually go, to scale

VPS
SignalForge bridge (published benchmark) Your broker's fill time What moving racks changes: single-digit ms

Moving the terminal from Madrid to a New York rack changes single-digit milliseconds in a journey of hundreds. Buy a VPS for uptime, never for latency, unless you know exactly why you need it.

When a real VPS is genuinely the right call.

Case 01
Many terminals, one boxyou want full control of Windows
  • You run several MT5/MT4 terminals from different vendors
  • Plus other software: copiers, custom scripts
  • And you want one Windows box you fully control
Case 02
Deliberate latency playand your broker allows it
  • Your strategy is latency-sensitive by design
  • Your broker allows that style of trading
  • Then pick a VPS in your broker's data-center region

In both cases a dedicated trading VPS beats a generic cloud box unless you genuinely enjoy Windows administration: the $6 Contabo becomes expensive the first weekend an unattended update leaves your terminal logged out.

When you don't need one.

If the only job is “keep one MT5 alive so my TradingView alerts execute”, a VPS is paying for a whole Windows computer to babysit one program. That is exactly the case SFCloud was built for: an MT5 terminal running 24/7 with the SignalForge EA pre-installed and a watchdog that restarts it if anything dies, accessible from the browser, from $9.99/mo all-in with the bridge — still less than a mid-range VPS, with zero admin. Up to three terminals per instance on the multi-MT5 setup.

Before infrastructure, sizing

Whatever you pick, size positions with the lot calculator first — infrastructure keeps trades running; sizing keeps accounts alive.

FAQ

Quick questions.

Email support@signalforge-ai.com if yours isn't here.

Do I need a VPS for SignalForge?

+
No. You need your MT5 terminal online — on your PC, on any VPS, or on SFCloud. The webhook side runs on our servers either way.

Is a free VPS from my broker good enough?

+
Broker-sponsored VPS offers (usually tied to volume or balance) are fine for uptime. Check the fine print: many are underpowered single-terminal boxes and get withdrawn if your volume drops.

Windows or Linux VPS for MT5?

+
MT5 is a Windows app; on Linux it needs Wine. If you are asking this question, buy Windows or skip the problem entirely with a hosted MT5.
